Sebastian Sachs is a calm influence

Emma Raducanu described coach Sebastian Sachs as “a calm influence” and revealed they are currently on a trial period. Raducanu, 20, revealed Sachs as her new coach this past Friday at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi.

In the past, Sachs worked with Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Belinda Bencic. Raducanu will take more time before she makes the final decision on Sachs but so far so good it seems. We are trialing until the end of the year and just seeing how it really goes.

It’s been going well. I’ve done a week with him so far and I think he’s a really calm influence. He’s on it, switched on, and yeah, I’m excited to see how it goes,” Raducanu said.

Raducanu: I’m fully healthy

Throughout the entire 2022 season, Raducano was battling injuries and physical setbacks.

Because of that, Raducano put on an emphasis on getting stronger this offseason. Now, Raducano is back to feeling fully healthy as she’s gotten stronger this offseason. Raducanu is praying it stays that way for a longer period of time.

“Physically, body, injury-wise I’m good now, I’m clear. Touch wood it stays like that. I really worked on my fitness the last two months, less on the tennis court. So I’m just trying to get my feeling on the court,” Raducanu said.

On Friday, Raducano played her first match in two months. In the lone women’s match at this year’s Mubadala World Tennis Championship, Raducanu suffered a tight defeat as Ons Jabeur recovered from a set down to beat the Briton 5-7 6-3 10-8.

But today [against Jabeur] was a pretty positive step in seeing where I’m at and what I can do better. But physically, I feel pretty good,” Raducanu reflected. Raducanu will be kicking off her 2023 season at the ASB Classic in Auckland in the first week of January.
