From the presidency of the Biscayan Golf Federation, this Bilbao native significantly promoted the practice of this sport in the country despite the fact that the pandemic stopped several projects that he had in hand.

It will be the fifth test of the season of the PGA Spain Tour 50th Anniversary of the PGA of Spain. This new competition coincides with the 50th anniversary of PGAe, the Association of Golf Professionals in Spain, which brings together professional players and is the oldest professional sports association.
One of the objectives of the “Bizkaia PGAe Open” is to bring golf closer to the population of Bizkaia, taking advantage of the existence of a publicly owned course like Meaztegi. Parallel to the professional tournament, a Pro-Am tournament will take place in which amateur golfers will have the opportunity to compete with professional players.
This tournament, which will also have a charitable purpose, will also serve to remember the figure of the recently deceased Carlos Celles, one of the pioneers of golf in Spain, based in Bizkaia since 1960 and one of the founders of the PGA.
