The Netherlands and West Indies go head to head in the first ODI at VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen, on May 31. This is the first of the three ODIs that will be played between both sides. The Windies players are back at national duty after their stint in the IPL.
For the Netherlands, this is a great opportunity to upset the Windies in their own backyard. Both the teams have announced their respective ODI squads. Pieter Seelaar will lead the Netherlands, while Nicholas Pooran has been appointed The new ODI skipper for the Windies after Kieron Pollard‘s retirement.
The West Indies squad have plenty of power hitters with Rovman Powell and Pooran himself. They also have Shai Hope to anchor through the middle order. The likes of Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King and Hayden Walsh Jr form the coree of this young and dynamic Windies side.
The Netherlands have named a young squad for the three-match series. The squad which is picked has plenty of regular players missing as they are playing the ongoing English County season. Plus several of their players are injured. In the absence of Tom Cooper and Ryan ten Doeschate, their opener Stephan Myburgh is out injured as well. This being a young squad several of their young players are lined up to make their debut in ODI cricket.
