In the group stages the boys in Blue have played in a sublime form by winning all their three games comprehensively despite missing key players for their last two games against Ireland and Uganda. Under the leadership of stand-in skipper Nishant Sindhu, the team performed brilliantly to stamp their authority as the favourites in the tournament.

India has plenty of positives with the batting unit firing on all cylinders. 16-year old opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi looks in a fine touch having scored 79 against Ireland and a brilliant 144 against Uganda. All-rounder Raj Bawa is showcasing his exemplary form both with the bat and ball. The right-arm pacer picked up a four-wicket haul against South Africa in the first game, while batting at number three against Uganda he registered the highest-ever score by an Indian batter in the Under-19 World Cup slamming an unbeaten 162. While skipper Yash Dhull top-scored for India in the only match that he played, other batters like Harnoor Singh, Nishant Sindhu and even all-rounder Rajvardhan Hangargekar have chipped in with useful contributions.

In the bowling department, Vicky Ostwal leads the wicket-takers chart for India as he picked up seven wickets in three games including a fifer against South Africa. Stand-in skskipper Nishant Sindhu took four wickets against Uganda and he has the best economy rate of just 2.75 in three matches. Pacers Hangargekar and Raj Bawa too chipped in with notable contributions making the Indian team a complete unit.

The defending champions will need to find a way to stop the rampaging Indians in the quarter-final. They enter the quarter-final after winning two out of their three group matches. In the opening match against England they fared poorly by getting all out for a meagre 97. However in their next two matches against Canada and UAE, they sealed comprehensive victories.

Their openers Mahfijul Islam and Iftakher Hossain have scored one fifty each in the tournament and both the players look in good touch. Among the bbowlers medium pacer Ripon Mondol is the pick of the lot as he has picked up eight wickets in three matches so far. Against a strong team like England the team fared poorly and with the kind of form India possess, it would be a big challenge for Bangladesh.

Both the teams met during the Asia Cup last month and chasing India’s 243, the Bangladeshis crumbled and managed to score just 140 on the board, losing all the wickets. India are truly the favourites and for Bangaldesh, their batting needs to click against a strong Indian bowling line-up, to stand any any chance of winning the contest.
