After a 17-week long season played in 6 different countries, the time has come for the “grand finale”.

To participate in the event, players must have taken part in at least 5 events in 3 different countries, as well as being in the “top 50” and actual members of the Alps Tour. The event will be played at the Modena Golf and Country Club from 6 to 8 October and will see 50 players on the field, who will attempt to earn one of the five coveted cards of the Challenge Tour 2023 (category 12), which will be assigned to the first 5 players classified.

in the Order of Merit at the end of this week’s event. It is played for 50,000 euros, of which 10,000 will go to the winner. Gregorio De Leo, current leader of the Order of Merit, has already secured one of the five Challenge Tour cards up for grabs in this week’s Grand Final.

Tom Vaillant (AM) is second and Julien Sale, who will play his second event as a pro, is in third place in the ranking. The venue for the event is a PAR 72 of 6423 meters and was designed by the German professional and two-time Masters champion, Bernhard Langer, and by the American architect Jim Engh.

The Modena Golf & Country Club has hosted prestigious national and international junior events, the Grand Final of the Alps Tour in 2021 and the 1993 Italian Open.
The championship course features numerous water hazards, large greens and choppy fairways, outlined by oaks, maples and evergreen shrubs.

The tournament format is 54-hole stroke play, no cut. In the event of a tie for 1st place at the end of the 54 holes, there will be a sudden-death play-off. The reigning champion of the tournament is Spaniard Victor Garcia Broto, who won the event in 2021 with a score of 13 under PAR.

Challenge Tour – British Challenge presented by Modest! Golf Management
From 6 to 9 October the Road to Mallorca champions travel to Cornwall, England. The British Challenge presented by Modest! Golf Management marks the first of the back-to-back events of the European Challenge Tour in England, along with the English Trophy presented by Rocket Yard Sports Marketing which will take place next week in Frilford Heath.

The two events represent the last chance for players to acquire points for the “Road to Mallorca” leaderboard before the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A, where the top 45 players will battle for one of the coveted 20 cards of the DP World Tour and part of the €500,000 prize pool.

The British Challenge will be played on the Nicklaus Signature Course, the first European course designed by Jack Nicklaus of St. Melliot Estate, which opened in 1988. The course hosted the B&H International Open of the DP World Tour between 1990 and 1995 and has seen winners such as Jose María Olazábal, Bernhard Langer and Severiano Ballesteros.

The course is considered one of the best golf courses in Cornwall and is undoubtedly one of the most difficult in the British hinterland, with wonderful views over the countryside. The challenge to become the No. 1 of the Road to Mallorca is getting more and more heated and the German Alexander Knappe, who leads the standings, wants to become the first German player to achieve the feat.

Knappe’s first win came at the Dimension Data Pro-Am at the opening of the season, while his second came at the recent B-NL Challenge Trophy in Hulencourt and is now aiming for “promotion” to the DP World Tour with a third win.

The Swede Mikael Lindberg is second, while the English Nathan Kimsey, the German Freddy Schott and the Swede Jens Dantorp close the top 5 of the ranking. There will be four blues on the field: Enrico Di Nitto, Jacopo Vecchi Fossa, Lorenzo Scalise and Aron Zemmer.

DP World Tour – acciona Open de España presented by Madrid
This week, from 6 to 9 October, Rafa Cabrera Bello will defend one of the most historic titles of the DP World Tour: the one he won at the Acciona Open de España, which this year is “presented by Madrid”

Jon Rahm won this event in 2018 and 2019 and a third victory would be a great success for the Spanish champion. It would mean, in fact, following in the footsteps of the great Seve Ballesteros. Rahm’s first two wins at the Centro Nacional de Golf and at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, where he is also played this year, were his first two appearances at the event.

The winner of a major and former No. 1 in the world last year had earned a 17th place. Although Rahm is this week’s favorite, he will not be the only Spaniard to attempt the home win record. Cabrera Bello will attempt to defend the title, while Arnaus, after five second places on the Tour, has finally secured his maiden win this season in the Catalunya Championship.

Jorge Campillo and Nacho Elvira have both achieved victories in recent seasons and have all the credentials to win. The Club de Campo Villa de Madrid was officially inaugurated in 1931. In 1990 it hosted the first event of the DP World Tour and has since hosted 11 more including Open de España, Open de Madrid and Madrid Masters.

Ballesteros’s victory here in 1995 was his 50th and last on the Tour and in the roll of honor he is joined by Ryder Cup captains Colin Montgomerie and Pádraig Harrington. The DP World Tour will be in Spain for three weeks with events that will play a vital role in the future of many players.

After this, in fact, Estrella Damm NA will follow. Andalucia Masters, the Mallorca Golf Open and, thereafter, the players will travel to Portugal for the Portugal Masters. Once again, the Iberian Peninsula will play a pivotal role in the history of European golf.

The Italians in the field are: Edoardo Molinari, Nino Bertasio, Andrea Pavan, Filippo Celli, Lorenzo Gagli and Renato Paratore. From Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 October the PGA Tour faces the third week of the new 2022-23 season with the Shriners Children’s Open.

The tournament began in 1983 as a 90-hole event played across multiple venues, but the Las Vegas stop has become a fixture on the calendar, as has its venue at TPC Summerlin. The course, PAR 71, is full of water and bunkers for and represents the players of the world, while the final part of the holes passed, including a drivable par-4, an achievable par-5 and the par-3 that passed with A sharp to sudden death, it always seems to offer a dramatic atmosphere at the end of the tournament.

The field this week is very respectable, with 12 of the top 50 in the world rankings in the “Sin City”, including some of the up-and-coming Presidents Cup champions. Defending champion Sungjae Im will also be on the field.

The Korean was one of four players to have shared 1st place in the last 18 holes of the 2021 edition. Im had completed the final round in 62 strokes, to earn his second title on the PGA Tour and beat the four lengths. current LIV Golf player Matthew Wolff.

Among the players on the field, for a prize pool of 8 million dollars, the favorites seem to be: Tom Kim, who is still flying high after his debut at the Presidents Cup, Max Homa, who does not have a great record on this course, but has shown excellent form after winning the Fortinet Championship.

Patrick Cantlay is also among the favorites and boasts an outstanding record at TPC Summerlin, along with Jason Day, who missed the cut two years ago but has worked hard on his game and expects results. This year the event will not take place at Daly City’s Lake Merced Golf Club.

After hosting the first three years of the tournament in the Bay Area, the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship moves six hours south to the Saticoy Club, nestled in the hills of California, Somis.
