Carsten Sabathia, son of former MLB pitcher CC Sabathia, commits to Georgia Tech’s baseball program

Carsten Sabathia, son of former New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia, has committed to Georgia Tech’s baseball program. Currently in his senior year, Carsten plays first base at Bergen Catholic high school in New Jersey.

“He controls the strike zone,” CC told The Athletic’s Lindsey Adler about his son. “He sees more pitches than anybody I’ve ever seen at his age.”

Carsten, 18, spent countless hours in major-league clubhouses, where CC played 19 seasons, winning a World Series (2009) and the AL Cy Young award (2007). The teenager showed off his skills at the Perfect Game All-American Class in August 2021, a national showcase for top high school prospects. His father was drafted in the first round and went directly to the minors after graduating from Vallejo High School in 1998.

Carsten joins a Georgia Tech program that’s won nine ACC championships and recorded three College World Series appearances.
