BALTIMORE – Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has done something the football world has rarely seen. He is not happy with this.
By defeating the Cleveland Browns 16-10 on Sunday night, Jackson became the first quarterback in eight years to win a game after throwing four interceptions. The QBs lost 41 consecutive games when throwing four picks.
“I’m sexy,” Jackson said. “I feel like those engines, when the interceptions came in, we could have done something with those engines. We could have put points on the board.”
Then Jackson tapped his chest: “I just told my team, ‘This is me.'” I owe you all.”
The last quarterback to win after throwing four interceptions was Andy Dalton, who beat the Ravens in the 2013 season final when he was with the Cincinnati Bengals.
On Sunday night, Jackson threw four high-profile interceptions, and all shots came when he wasn’t under pressure. He was intercepted three times in his last five passes in the second quarter, then picked up early in the fourth quarter on a deep underground pass to lock down Mark Andrews.
Fortunately for Baltimore, Brown made only three of those turnovers.
When asked if his objections had in common, Jackson said, “I mean, it’s one game that happened. They just played great games on those objections. It wasn’t like I was throwing it right.”
Ravens (8-3) now holds the AFC No. 1 seed with six matches remaining, winning the past two games without much help from Jackson.
