Gabonese Football Association He stated that CAF medical officials had diagnosed Aubameyang, teammates Axel Mei and midfielder Mario Lemina with “cardiac injury” after returning from positive COVID-19 tests. The federation said CAF “does not want to take any risks”.

The two teams tied 1-1.

Aubameyang tested positive at an airport upon arrival in Cameroon last week and has been isolated. He also missed Gabon’s first match in which it won 1-0 over Comoros. The Arsenal player has since tested negative for the virus and was released from isolation two days before the Ghana match and was expected to return to the team.

Meye and Lemina have also been isolated after positive virus tests.

Gabon played Ghana without other players due to the virus. Defenders Sydney Obisa and Lloyd Ballon tested positive on Wednesday in a mandatory team test 48 hours before the match.

Gabon coach Patrice Neveu also tested positive but he re-tested negative before the third set match and allowed him to take his place on the sidelines.
